Messe Essen: Address, arrival, parking, hotels and tips
The Essen trade fair centre hosts a mixture of regional, national and international events. Both trade and consumer fairs are organised. There are around 55 events every year. Of these, 10 are leading trade fairs.
Popular events at Messe Essen include the Equitanta equestrian sports fair, the Essen Motor Show and the DEBAUKOM construction trade fair.
The exhibition centre has an exhibition area of 110,000 m². There are a total of 9 exhibition halls. There is also the Congress Centre Essen and the Grugahalle.

How to get to Messe Essen
Arrival via the motorway
The motorway network in the trade fair city of Essen is well developed. The A3, A40, A42 and A52 motorways can be used to get here. There is a trade fair guidance system so that you can easily find your way to the trade fair with its many car parks by car.
Attention: There is an environmental zone in Essen. Anyone travelling by car needs a green environmental badge.
Travelling by plane
Essen has Essen/Mühlheim Airport, which is only a 10-minute drive away. There are also good connections to Düsseldorf Airport, which can be reached in around 20 minutes by car.
Düsseldorf Airport is also well connected to the railway. Travelling on to your destination is possible without any problems.
Continue by train
The climate-friendly journey from Düsseldorf Airport to the exhibition centre is possible thanks to the good connections. Take the regional express train to Essen Central Station. From there, take the underground to the exhibition centre.
Continue by taxi to the exhibition centre
If there is no train travelling in that direction, taking a taxi is also an option. The taxi journey takes around 20 minutes.
The journey costs around €65.
Travelling by train
Essen Central Station is a hub for connections of all kinds. There are ICE, IC, EC and IR connections in all directions.
Continue with the underground
The main railway station is just over 3 km from the exhibition centre. Simply take the underground line U11 in the direction of the exhibition centre. The journey only takes 5 minutes.
Parking at the Essen exhibition centre
With over 7,000 parking spaces in the vicinity of the exhibition centre, Messe Essen is well positioned. There is a good car park guidance system to help you find your way to the car parks.
East car park
The P1 car park for around 440 vehicles is located at the Congress Center Ost. The P2 car park with over 1,600 parking spaces is also located in the immediate vicinity.

Car parks south
There is a large car park P5 at the Congress Center Süd. It is only a few steps to the exhibition centre.

Car parks west
There are further car parks in the West area. There are car parks P9 with 800 parking spaces and P6 with around 1,000 parking spaces.
Costs: usually €7 per day
P+R car park and other parking areas
There are other car parks that are not directly on the exhibition grounds. These include the P+R car park at Grugapark, which is free of charge.
There is also the Aalto-Musiktheater underground car park with a further 500 parking spaces. The underground car park is located in Rolandstraße and is approximately 2.5 km away.
